Financing Your Education
As one of Arizona’s premier public universities, our tuition is one of the most competitive in the nation. Making this investment in your future can yield higher earnings throughout your career. Our staff will help you explore the best financial options for your personal situation. Our payment plan allows you to spread your tuition payments over the course of the term. Check with your employer about tuition assistance and contact our financial aid office for more information on student aid.
We pride ourselves in making education affordable; however, planning for this expense is important.
NAU tuition is lower than most public and private universities. Compare tuition rates and you'll see that NAU rates are lower than most.
One factor in calculating tuition is whether you qualify as an Arizona resident. Otherwise, you will be considered nonresident for tuition purposes. In the spring and fall terms, as a resident student taking one to six units, you will be charged the per-unit tuition rate, plus applicable fees. If you enroll in 7 or more units you will be charged the full-time tuition rate, plus applicable fees. This entitles undergraduate students to carry up to 18 units and graduate students to carry up to 16 units.
For Summer and Winter terms the tuition rate is the same for undergraduate, graduate, workshop, or short-term classes for both residents and non- residents. Tuition for these terms is charged per unit; there is no full-time rate.
Use the Tuition Calculator to estimate the tuition you will need to pay based on your residency and course load .
