The need for skilled workers in health related fields is skyrocketing. The aging population, unhealthful life styles, and environmental conditions contribute to this trend. Health care spending is expected to double in the next ten years. If you want to enter the fast-growing world of health care, your biggest challenge may be simply sorting through the options! The Health Sciences program at Northern Arizona University will prepare you for employment in hospitals, government health agencies, private industry, and nongovernmental organizations. Do you see yourself as a health educator or speech-language pathology assistant? Are you a practicing allied health professional, such as diagnostic imaging technician or respiratory care assistant? Our programs will give you an avenue to success.

Note: If you want to major in some emphases within the Health Sciences degree, you must apply and be accepted to the Department of Health Sciences program in addition to being admitted to the university.


Basic requirements for the Health Sciences - Allied Health (BS) degree

Liberal Studies (35 units)
Health Sciences Core (27 units)
Diversity Requirement (These courses may be used to meet other requirements in your academic plan) (6 units)
Associate degree's discipline-specific coursework
Electives (if needed to reach 120 credits required for graduation and/or other NAU requirements)
